General Manager – Publisher Reseracher

The PRC is a non-profit company with members, that caters to the audience research needs of publishers across multiple platforms in Sout Africa. It serves as the JIC commissioning and overseeing the delivery of identified publisher brand research for the benefit of the members, including any required industry audience currency research, and the promotion of the value of publisher brands.

General Purpose:

To assume all responsibilities of the GM position. To manage key stakeholder interests, audience research, and engage with relevant industry bodies. To assist in conducting robust research which provides publishers with audience and engagement metrics to market their print and digital platforms. To develop marketing collateral that highlights the value of reading in the marketing and communication mix.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • General management skills
  • Work closely with our research suppliers to manage all the currency and other studies we conduct and monitor costs and SLA’s
  • Implementation of the PAMS reading currency survey as well as plan and manage other synergy, engagement and recall projects.
  • Representer PRC interests at industry events
  • Facilitate workshops for media planners, media buyers, and media analysts
  • Keep abreast of global best practice in audience measurement
  • Develop relevant insights, presentations and best practice for advertisers and stakeholders
  • Manage a website which houses relevant marketing collateral, research results, case studies and a knowledge repository
  • Understand the business processes and policies, financial management and budgeting, reporting and billing of PRC members
  • Manage all stakeholder queries, meetings, and communication
  • To market and drive the benefits of being a member of the PRC

Experience and Education:

  • A knowledge of market research, specifically in the advertising/media industry will be a distinct advantage
  • An understanding of both traditional print and digital platforms
  • Background in strategy research, marketing, brand management, finance and administration would be advantageous
  • University degree or equivalent qualification
  • Preference will be given to EE candidates
